 Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization

"Together, we are working to increase public awareness about an especially aggressive form of breast cancer. It is important for women with breast cancer to find out if their breast cancer is HER2-positive because it can help physicians make more informed decisions about appropriate treatment options." - Margaret Kirk, Chief Executive Officer of Y-ME

Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization™ (Y-ME) is a Chicago-based national nonprofit organization with the mission to ensure, through information, empowerment and peer support, that no one faces breast cancer alone. Y-ME does not raise money for research, but instead is here today for women who can't wait for tomorrow's cure.

Y-ME has been giving information and support to anyone touched by breast cancer for nearly 30 years. At the center of the organization is the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Hotline, the only 24/7 call center operated by trained peer counselors who are breast cancer survivors. Y-ME peer counselors do not give medical advice but help people by giving them emotional support and information about breast cancer, procedures and treatment options. Hotline calls are interpreted in 150 languages.

Y-ME's expanding network has affiliates throughout the nation that provide services such as support groups, breast health awareness workshops, wigs and prostheses for women with limited resources, and advocacy on breast cancer related policies in their communities.

If you or someone you know needs breast cancer information or support, call the 24-hour Y-ME National Breast Cancer Hotline at 1-800-221-2141 or 1-800-986-9505 (Spanish). All of Y-ME's programs and services are free and confidential.
